Frequently asked questions

Do you pull permits?

For work that requires it (panel upgrades, new circuits, service changes, etc.), we handle permits and inspections unless a GC requests otherwise.

What areas do you serve?

We’re based in Big Lake and serve the Greater Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs—including areas like Monticello, Elk River, Maple Grove, Rogers, St. Michael, Otsego, Blaine, Albertville, Zimmerman, and nearby communities. If you’re unsure whether we service your area, just ask — we often travel for larger projects and long-term clients.

How do estimates and pricing work?

Most jobs get a free on-site estimate. Small fixes may be billed time-and-materials with a minimum service call. You’ll see everything in writing before we start.

What payment methods do you take?

Credit/debit, Venmo, ACH, and check. A deposit may be required for larger projects or special-order materials.

Do I need to be home during the work?

Not always. For interior work we’ll need access; for exterior installs (EV chargers, services) we can coordinate ahead of time. We text/call with updates.

How long does a typical job take?

Service calls: 1–2 hours.
EV charger or hot tub circuit: 2–5 hours.
Panel upgrade: most done in a day, with a brief power outage.
We’ll confirm timing in your estimate.

Do you install EV chargers and hot tubs?

Yes—Tesla/Level 2 chargers, dedicated spa circuits, and proper GFCI protection per code.

What warranty do you offer?

1-year labor warranty on our workmanship plus manufacturer warranties on materials/equipment.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Highline Electric is fully licensed and insured. We follow NEC and local code on every job.
